Local
Weather The
Smoky Mountains create weather conditions that are generally far colder and wetter
than the surrounding areas. Weather in the Smokies is forever changing. Below
is a short guide to our local weather. Winter
- Days during this unpredictable season can be sunny and in the 70s or snowy with
highs in the 20s. In the low elevations, snows of one inch or more may take place
one to five times per season with significant buildup in the high country. The
chart below shows our average seasonal temperatures on a monthly basis. Spring
- During March we experience the most variable weather patterns. It can snow or
rain on any day, especially at higher elevations. During the month of April, the
weather becomes milder, with daytime temperatures ranging from the 70s to low
40s at night. Temperatures during May can climb into the 80s or dip into the 30s.
Summer
- By the middle of June, heat, haze and humidity are the norm. Normal temperatures
are in the upper 80s during the day and 50s at night. Fall
- September generally brings a pattern of warm, sunny days and crisp, clear nights.
However, cool rainy days do crop up, as well. Dustings of snow may fall in the
higher elevations during the month of November.
